HLTH 632
Mission, Goals, and Objectives Assignment Instructions
Overview
Based upon your rationale and the information you have reviewed so far for your specific health issue, create a mission statement for your program, two distinct goals, and give objectives for each goal.
McKenzie et al1 indicate that "to plan, implement, and evaluate effective health promotion programs, planners must have a solid foundation in place to guide them through their work. The mission statement, goals, and objectives of a program can provide such a foundation. If prepared properly, a mission statement, goals, and objectives should not only give the necessary direction to a program…".
Segments of this Assignment must be presented in outline/list form, rather than in narrative form.
Instructions
Step 1. Develop a Mission Statement for your program.
A mission statement is a formal summary of the aims and values of your program. View the mission statement as the 'elevator speech' to tell the purpose of your program. It is essential that the statement include mention of the location of your program. Mission statements get at the heart of why your program exits.
Example: The American Lung Association's mission is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. We do this through education, advocacy, and research. There is a link to the ALA’s mission statement page in the Missions, Goals, and Objectives Resources section on the assignment page.
Step 2. Create Two Distinct Goals for your Program.
Goals are broad statements that describe the expected outcomes of the program. The two goals should be linked to your mission statement.
Example: To reduce mortality and morbidity due to the use of tobacco.
Step 3. Develop Objectives for each Goal.
Objectives refer to specific, measurable results for the program's broad goals. There are five types of objectives: process, impact-learning, impact – behavior, impact – environmental, and outcome. In this Assignment, each goal must have each type of objective. Each objective must be a S.M.A.R.T. objective with measurable outcomes.
Example: By 2012, 75 % of indoor places will be compliant to regulations on environmental tobacco smoke, as measured by the county health department compliance monitoring reports.
Step 4. Use ChatGPT
Use ChatGPT to develop the Mission Statement, Goals, and Objectives for your program. Compare this to your orginial work.
There is a link to ChatGPT in the Missions, Goals, and Objectives Resources section on the assignment page.
Step 5. Revise your Orginial Work with ChatGPT recommendatons.
After using ChatGPT for recommendations, revise your orginial work to create the best possible mission, goals, and objectives for your public health project.
Step 6. Submit
In one document, you must submit your orginial work, the ChatGPT recommendations, and then yourfinal reversion of the mission statement, goals, and objectives. This will show your orginial work, the recommendations of ChatGPT, and the final combined product in one document.
Note: Each goal must have the five previously mentioned objectives: process, impact-learning, impact – behavior, impact – environmental, and outcome.
Include at least 2 peer-reviewed resources. References must be sources of information regarding the goals and objectives you create, as you want them to be based on best practices.
The Mission, Goals, and Objectives paper must be no more than 750 words (3 pages), exclusive of references. Current AMA Citation Style must be followed.
