managing and prioritizing stakeholders -- a task every business needs to
do as part of ethical decision making. If you look at your first
writing assignment, a stakeholder analysis of Facebook, you're asked to
identify all the relevant stakeholders first ... a tough task ... but
then you're asked to describe them, to prioritize them from most
important to least important, and to identify what they are owed.
Finally, you're asked to identify solutions to resolve any gaps between
what the stakeholders are owed (could be legal, could be economic,
could be ethical, could be philanthropic) and how they're actually being
treated. This is a pretty big job, even though we're just getting
started with the stakeholder analysis itself!
