While
the overall process flow within the criminal justice system is very
similar for both adult and juvenile offenders, some special protections
have been added for juvenile to ensure their rights are protected. These
special protections are also intended to improve the chances that a
juvenile offender will go on to lead a law-abiding life as an adult.
This is especially true in the area of juvenile court hearings.
Compose an essay of 500 – 700 words that discusses the special
protections established for juvenile court hearings. Provide specific
examples of steps taken within the court hearing phase that are intended
to protect the rights of juveniles and increase the likelihood of a
law-abiding life as an adult.
Directly quoted material
may be used, but will not count towards the minimum word count. Be sure
to support your response with cited scholarly resources as required by
APA. A minimum of three (3) resources in addition to the course textbook
must be used when composing your response.
