This week, you will choose a community health issue of interest to you. Your course capstone project, due in Week 6, is a completed program plan to address this issue.
Brainstorm and research the community health issue you would like to address.
Consider the following:
- What is the problem you plan to address? (i.e., What health disparities will you address?)
- What is the extent of the problem?
- What social justice issues (i.e., inequities) will you address? Why is this a public health problem?
- How was this issue brought to your attention?
- What is your vision for this population and setting? (e.g., eliminating the health disparity, contributing to more equitable health outcomes for the population/geographical area, etc.)
Write a 150- to 175-word summary of your choice and the research you have found. Your faculty member will use this to ensure your choice is appropriate for the assignment.
Cite at least 2–3 articles in APA format that provides background on this issue.
Once you have faculty approval, be sure to research your topic as it aligns with the questions above before Wk 2.
