Description of Assessment Data Assignment Instructions
Overview
It is vital that your health program plan is based on the most current data and research. You must have a strong knowledge of what is considered the best and promising practices of public health interventions for your topic. Information and data that describe the status of a health problem within a population can be obtained by analyzing peer-reviewed articles from scholarly journals.
Instructions
Step 1. Select and Review the Article.
Select and review two peer-reviewed articles from academic journals about health promotion research or health promotion practice that relates to the topic you selected for your program rationale. You may access academic journals at the Jerry Falwell Library. You can connect with the Library for yourself using the Jerry Falwell Library link on the assignment page.

Step 2. Write your Description of Assessment Data.
Be sure to format your paper as outlined below:
1. On page 1: Provide the current AMA citation for your first article. Include a link to the article. Use the following headings in the order provided.
a. Description of the study (purpose, participants, outcome)
b. Primary data provided (collected by the authors)
c. Secondary data provided (authors obtained from another source)
2. On page 2: Provide the current AMA citation for your second article. Include a link to the article. Use the following headings in the order provided.
a. Description of the study (purpose, participants, outcome)
b. Primary data provided (collected by the authors)
c. Secondary data provided (authors obtained from another source)
3. On page 3 (and 4 if needed), reflect on the importance of doing a needs assessment prior to planning and implementing a health promotion program. Describe how the information provided in the 2 articles could be of use to a program planner.
Step 3. Submit your Assignment.
The Description of Assessment Data paper must be 250–1,000 words (1–4 pages), exclusive of references, and formatted in current AMA style. All sources must be less than 5 years old.
