The Settlement House provides program to help residents in the area, including food pantry, baby Pantry and backpack feeding program. Settlement House serves more than 1,800 families per year. Settlement house relies on volunteers and donation and recives some surplus food from the USDA. Settlement House holds special programs like an annual holiday party for children in the are. Children of all ages are welcome to attend but parents must register them by Dec. 5 by calling the Settlement House at 304-5992040. This year’s holiday party Saturday, December 12, 12 noon to 3PM. At the Settelment House. Each child will receive at least three gifts geared to their age and interest. Volunteers needed to help shop, wrap set up and prepare for the party. Donation of toys and cloths are needed. Volunteers can bring refreshment and decoration for the party. Cash donation are welcomed. Scott’s Runs the Settelement House and it is a social service agency in Osage. A low income area just outside Morgantown. The area used to be succeed with countless coal mines in operation and good job for local resident. Now most of the coal mines are closed and there is now little business or employment.
